Josie Whaley and Winston Jalloh were both charged with culpable negligence.
A Florida couple has been charged with negligence after their 4-year-old son was able to get his hands on a gun and shoot his 2-year-old sister.
Winston Jalloh, 27, and Josie Whaley, 23, turned themselves in last week and face culpable negligence charges in the late January shooting, according to the Ocala Star Banner.
The young girl, who has not been identified, was reportedly shot in the left armpit and the bullet exited through her back. She has since been released from UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
The gun belonged to Jalloh, according to the Star Banner, but it’s unclear how the boy was able to get it.
The shooting has been ruled an accident.
