An Oklahoma City couple allegedly drugged and tortured their son in order to get rid of a demon inside of him, according to police.
Friends of the family went to police after noticing that the 7-year-old boy, who has not been identified, had welts on his body and head and bruising on his wrists, according to court documents obtained by KFOR.
“He had bruises, welts on his body, appeared that he had been struck and apparently abused, mentioned he had been kicked, injuries you’d expect would go along with that kind of behavior,” Sgt. Gary Knight with Oklahoma City Police told the station.
Knight said the parents “felt was possibly possessed by demons and felt they needed to take action," but it’s unclear what led the couple to that assumption.
The woman allegedly told police that they would sometimes drug the boy with “benzos and cough syrup” to help them relax, according to KFOR.
No arrests have been made yet but the children in the home, including the boy, have all been taken into protective custody.
